LEARNING TO EMBRACE YOUR SKIN AND TIPS TO CARE FOR IT!

Hello loves, hope you are doing well!

Welcome to our weekly blog post where we give you tips about beauty, empowerment, and basically everything else in between!

This week we will be talking all about skincare! A lot of people think when they see an individual with flawless makeup it's because of how talented they are at applying it. Well, you maybe right but you actually could be wrong!

Good and flawless makeup application does take practice and talent for sure, but really what matters most is our skin underneath, and how we are caring for it!

When our skin is taken care of, sometimes our makeup will apply and look a lot smoother. But, EVERYONE is an individual, and not everyone has naturally "flawless" skin with no acne, discolouration, scarring, uneven skin texture, and so much more possibilities in-between. The reality is with photoshop and the ability to add filters to your face, they can almost instantly rid all "imperfections" that almost everyone in the world has.

Now why do we consider acne or skin discolouration imperfections? Society and the media gives us false reality of how "flawless skin" should look. We have all seen it, the celebrities, and even regular people with no pimples, dark spots, or uneven skin tones, we think "damn, they're lucky". The truth is, that the very person you're looking at, may even have their own insecurities too.

As mentioned before, each person is unique and has their own beautiful face and skin to work with. Below we will be giving you some basic skincare tips to add into your daily routine mainly for self care, and because it's important to cleanse, protect and nurture your skin. After all, it is the biggest organ on your body!

Please be advised that these are general suggestions, it's always best to consult a professional such as your Family Doctor, Dermatologist or beauty consultant at a beauty counter if you feel like you are struggling with any severe acne or any other skin related concerns. This is just for informational purposes.

Are you ready? Lets go :)

5 SKINCARE PRODUCTS TO ADD TO YOUR DAILY ROUTINE:

1. Sunscreen. Yes you heard it, sunscreen! This is very important for our face even on cloudy days. The reason being is UV rays can be harmful to our skin, which can result in early aging, enhancing acne scars which can result in dark spots and uneven skin tone. Not only is sunscreen recommended for daily use on the face and body by Dermatologists, but being exposed to the sun without protection can lead to potential cancerous skin lesions. Yikes! Sunscreen should be used if your outside for only a few minutes too!  We personally love to use it while indoors as well because the sun is still shining through our windows! We highly recommend using a zinc based sunscreen as it help deflect the UV rays away from your face VS a chemical sunscreen which absorbs the UV rays into your skin. All skin tones can highly benefit from daily sunscreen use.

 2. Cleanser. Do you ever notice how often you touch your face during the day? Sometimes we do not even realize how much we touch our faces because it's such a natural habit. This is why using a cleanser is so important at the end of the day to help wash off all the dirt and built up residue that can clog our pores. When your pores are clogged it may lead to potential breakouts which result in acne. Some people like to cleanse in the morning and night, whatever works for you, but we highly recommend once per day at night at minimum. With so many cleansers out on the market you will have to do research and find one that works for you and your skin type. Thankfully you can always search online to review cleansers that you may be interested in, and learn more about the ingredients and if they will work with your skin type.

3. Toner. We love a good toner after cleansing the face! What we have noticed through our own experience is after cleansing, using a toner on a cotton pad allows any additional dirt or debris to be removed on top of cleansing allowing for a deeper clean of the skin. One of our favourites is by a brand called "Fresh" and it's the "rose water toner". Now again, with so many toners on the market, its best to do your research to see which will work for you, and your price range. Be sure to ask someone working in the beauty department if you visit your local drugstore or Sephora.

4. Moisturizer. Now that your face is all cleansed, it's important to get moisture back into your skin. Everyone has different skin types from oily, dry, combo, etc. We know this may be repetitive, but it is best to do research to see which one will work best for you. One of our favourites is by "Chanel", and it's the "gel cream moisturizer". Please be mindful of what kind of moisturizer you choose to use as each person will react differently. It can be overwhelming at times when you look and see all the different options available. Take your time, ask an associate, and do your research! We're confident you will find the perfect one eventually. Sometimes with skincare it is a matter of trial and error.

5. Eye cream. This is optional, but an eye cream can help with a variety of different concerns in the eye area depending on what your looking for. If you conduct a quick search online you will find hundreds of eye creams that state they will make your "under eyes brighter", "more youthful", and so many other claims. Again, it's important to do your research to see which would work best for you. Sometimes these claims are up for debate. Be smart, and if it sounds way too good to be true, it may just be that.

There you have it! A few skincare items that will allow you to take time our of your day and care for your beautiful skin! We each have our own different "skin critiques" and things we wish we would change.

Remember that sometimes no matter what products you buy, or use, there are just somethings that cannot be "changed" or "fixed" with an over the counter product. It's important to take care of your skin yes, but remember to embrace your individuality. We all have things we are not completely happy with or proud of. The sooner we can accept ourselves with our self perceived "flaws", the sooner we may just start becoming happier with ourselves and our reflection when we look in the mirror.

Remember you are so unique, rare, and nobody in the world will ever be you. Embrace your body, and remember to show yourself love and compassion. The stress of the outside world can be hard enough, don't be so tough on yourself! Be kind, and remember, you are your own biggest supporter! Your are BEAUTIFUL! Hey you never know, there could be someone else out in the world who admires you, and only WISHES they could have what you have!

Love you lots. Hope you enjoyed this read :) Take a moment to take a breath, and appreciate you for all that you truly are!

XOXO
