HOW TO GET YOUR MAKEUP TO LAST WHILE WEARING A MASK!

Hello loves!

We are back again with another weekly blog! This week we have a few tips and tricks on how to get your makeup to last all day long while wearing a mask!

Our founder Shantel has always been asked for the longest time by Friends, Family and Strangers "how do you get your makeup to last so long?", or the classic, "It's been hours how does your makeup stay so perfect?".

Well, Shantel has provided us with a list of her favourite tips so all of you makeup lovers can enjoy and obtain longer lasting makeup while wearing a mask!

Ready? Let's dive right in!

HOW TO GET YOUR MAKEUP TO LAST, WHILE WEARING A MASK

1. Cleanse your skin! Before applying any makeup to your face, make sure its completely clean with no oils, products, or creams on the skin. We recommend using an oil free toner before applying makeup in order to ensure you're working with a fresh base. Shantel loves to use "Fresh rose water toner" prior to her makeup application.

2. Use a primer! This is such a game changer. Makeup primers allow the skin to be prepped, set, and prepare a beautiful base for your makeup application. There are many different types of primers on the market to meet your personal skin needs. With this being said, it's important to be aware of your skin type. Some people have more oily skin, some more dry, some are a little bit of both. It may take testing a few products before you find the right one. Shantel has oily skin and she loves to use the "Makeup Forever Matte Primer!".

3. Find your right liquid foundation finish! Foundations can be overwhelming with so many brands on the market, however we are confident that you will find the perfect finish to match your skin needs! Thankfully cosmetic companies have made it a little easier to choose because once you know your skin type, you can determine what finish will work for you. Shantel loves a matte finish foundation as her skin is oily, and the purpose of a matte finish is to help leave the skin with an oil free look for an extended period of time. Sometimes with makeup products it is a trial and error, however once you find products that you love, and work for you, it's an amazing experience!

4. Set your liquid foundation with a powdered foundation! This is more of a preference suggestion, however Shantel swears by this makeup trick! Once you apply your foundation, be sure to set it in place with a powered foundation! This allows extra coverage, and allows the liquid foundation to stay in place all day with an extra layer of protection to help prevent against transfer and wear  during the day! While taking the mask on and off, this gives a little more wiggle room for less transfer thats noticeable on the skin.

5. Use a setting powder! I know you're thinking, wait more powder? But hear us out! Using a setting powder to bake around the area of the mask, smile lines, and any oily zones that you make have on your face, allows a bit of extra coverage and to secure in the other products used above. While wearing a mask, naturally the mouth area can get sweaty with our breath, so baking that area can help a lot. If you're unsure what baking is you can always check out tutorials on youtube!

6. Use a setting spray! Setting sprays are an amazing product to help melt in all the power and the products onto your face. Shantel loves the "Mac Cosmetics fix plus spray". This allows all the layers of powder to also blend into the skin and appear less caky. There are plenty of setting sprays on the market which have different purposes such as matte setting sprays or more of a dewy finish setting spray. Once you're aware of your skin type, this should narrow it down to which one you may or may not want to try.

7. Bring products with you on the go! Although all these steps are helpful with keeping your makeup in place while wearing a mask, unfortunately the mask can, will, and should press on your nose area. Depending on how long you're wearing the mask, your makeup may become damp around your mouth and nose. Shantel always brings her foundation powder and a makeup sponge with her just to touch up her nose and smile line areas as these are the most impacted with the mask. This is helpful if you need to eat on your lunch break, or remove your mask for whatever reason in a safe manner.

There you have it loves! A few simple tips for you wearing a mask and keeping your makeup in place all day long!

We at Fit For A Princess Beauty hope in our hearts that one day life will get back to some form of normalcy. Until then, stay safe, live in the moment, and never stop being uniquely you and beautiful!

  • Awesome tips and well written blog. Very informative and I gained a few valuable tips especially on oily skin and what matted foundation to use. I like using a setting powder after applying foundation.

Thanks for tips and I am looking forward to reading your next blog. I would love a blog on face cleaners and what you use.
